La Ferroviaria Italiana
Italy
Created at the beginning of the 20th century, La Ferroviaria Italiana (LFI) operates two regional rail lines in the region of Tuscany, at the centre of Italy: the Arezzo-Stia line running to the north and the Arezzo-Sinalunga line to the south. LFI also operates bus routes.
In 2004, the company opened its capital through an operating partnership to help modernize its rail activity and better integrate its regional transport service in Tuscany.
Today, Ratp Dev manages and is the leading shareholder (37%) of LFI through the investing company ALEXA created with public and private operators in Tuscany.
Following ALEXA's involvement, the rail activity and coach activity were split in two to improve global management. LFI has also reorganized its rail operation, launched new trains and built a modern workshop.
